Ingredients

Scale
  1. For the Puff Pastry:

    • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)

    • 1 egg (for egg wash)

    • 1 tbsp water

    • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

    For the Caramel Apple Filling:

    • 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

    • 1/4 cup brown sugar

    • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

    • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

    • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

    • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

    • 1 tsp vanilla extract

    • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (slurry)

    • 1/4 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apple Filling:

    • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add diced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

    • Cook for 5-7 minutes until apples are soft and caramelized.

    • Stir in vanilla extract and cornstarch slurry, then cook for 1-2 more minutes until thickened.

    • Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly.

  • Prepare the Puff Pastry:

    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    • Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into rectangles or squares.

    • Lightly score a border around each piece (do not cut through).

    • Mix the egg and water to create an egg wash and brush it along the edges of the pastry.

    • Sprinkle a little granulated sugar on the edges for extra crispness.

  • Assemble & Bake:

    • Spoon the caramel apple filling into the center of each pastry, staying within the scored border.

    • Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and crispy.

  • Drizzle & Serve:

    • Drizzle with extra caramel sauce before serving for an added touch of sweetness and richness.

Notes

  • You can use other apple varieties such as Fuji or Gala for a sweeter twist.

  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgence.

  • These pastries can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
