Ingredients

Scale
  1. For the Popcorn Base:

    • 8 cups popped popcorn (freshly popped or store-bought)
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • ½ teaspoon salt

    For the Glow-in-the-Dark Candy Coating:

    1. 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
    2. ½ cup light corn syrup
    3. ¼ cup tonic water (quinine-based for glow effect)
    4. ¼ teaspoon baking soda
    5. Neon food coloring (pink, blue, green, yellow, purple)
    6. Edible glitter or shimmer dust

Instructions

  • Prepare the Popcorn
Pop the popcorn kernels and spread them on a parchment-lined baking tray.
Lightly butter and salt the popcorn for extra flavor.

  • Make the Glow-in-the-Dark Candy Coating
In a small saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and tonic water.
Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it reaches 250°F (121°C) on a candy thermometer.
Stir in baking soda to create a light, airy texture.
Divide the mixture into separate bowls, adding a few drops of neon food coloring to each.

  • Coat the Popcorn
Drizzle the different colored syrups over sections of the popcorn, gently tossing to coat evenly.
Let the popcorn dry completely before handling.

  • Garnish & Serve
Sprinkle with edible glitter or shimmer dust for a sparkling effect.
Serve under a blacklight to see the neon glow!

Notes

  • Ensure the tonic water used is quinine-based for the glow effect.
  • The popcorn should dry completely to ensure the coating stays intact.
  • Neon food coloring can be mixed to create custom colors.
