Description

This Garlic Butter Beef and Rice Skillet features tender ground beef cooked with fragrant garlic and Cajun seasoning, simmered with rice in savory beef broth, then smothered in a creamy cheddar Parmesan sauce for a comforting, cheesy meal all in one pan.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ cup milk or heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Add Seasoning and Garlic: Stir in Cajun seasoning and minced garlic. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add Rice and Broth: Add uncooked rice to skillet and stir to coat. Pour in beef broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15–18 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid mostly absorbed.
  4. Make the Cheesy Sauce: Stir in butter, milk or cream, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Mix until melted and creamy.
  5. Season and Finish: Taste and adjust with salt and black pepper. Let sit for a few minutes to thicken slightly.
  6. Serve: Spoon mixture into bowls or plates. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use heavy cream for a richer sauce or milk for a lighter version.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning to your preferred spice level.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated gently on the stove or microwave.
