Bok Choy
- 1 ½ lb baby bok choy
- 1 teaspoon salt
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- ¼ cup water
For Cooking
- 8 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Instructions
Step 1: Blanch the Bok Choy
- Bring a pot of water with 1 teaspoon salt to a boil over high heat.
- Add baby bok choy and blanch for 1 minute. Remove and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon cornstarch with ¼ cup water until smooth.
- Add oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, chicken bouillon powder, and sesame oil. Stir to combine.
Step 3: Cook the Sauce
- Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
- Pour in the prepared sauce and stir. Simmer until the sauce thickens, about 1–2 minutes.
Step 4: Serve
- Arrange the blanched bok choy on a serving plate.
- Pour the sauce over the bok choy. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, replace oyster sauce with vegetarian mushroom oyster sauce and skip the chicken bouillon powder.
- For a spicier kick, sprinkle chili flakes over the finished dish.
