Description

These French Toast Churro Bites in Heart Shapes are the perfect festive treat! Golden, crispy bites of French toast tossed in a cinnamon-sugar churro coating, served with delicious dipping sauces. Perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  1. For the French Toast Bites:
    • 8 slices of thick bread (brioche or Texas toast recommended)
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • Butter or neutral oil, for cooking

    For the Churro Coating:

    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

    For Serving (Optional):

    • Chocolate sauce
    • Caramel sauce
    • Whipped cream

Instructions

Prepare the Heart Shapes: Using a small heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out hearts from each slice of bread. Save the scraps for another recipe (like breadcrumbs or croutons).

Make the Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined.

Cook the French Toast Hearts: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil. Dip each heart-shaped bread piece into the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off. Place the soaked bread hearts onto the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Work in batches if necessary.

Coat with Churro Mixture: In a shallow dish, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon for the churro coating. While the French toast bites are still warm, gently toss them in the churro coating until fully covered.

Serve and Garnish: Arrange the French Toast Churro Bites on a serving platter. Serve with chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping and a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

  • You can make the heart-shaped French toast bites ahead of time and store them in an airtight container. Reheat in the oven for a crispy finish before coating with the churro sugar.
  • For extra sweetness, drizzle with syrup or dust with powdered sugar.
  • These bites are perfect for any festive occasion, like brunches, Valentine’s Day, or as a fun family breakfast
