This French Onion Soup Rice is the perfect side dish with layers of savory beef broth, French onion soup, and tender rice. The combination of rich flavors will make this a family favorite. Ready in under an hour, it’s ideal for busy nights!

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 ¼ cup Long Grain Rice, uncooked
  2. 14.5 oz can of Beef Broth
  3. 10.5 oz can of French Onion Soup
  4. 1 stick of Butter, cold
  5. Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 425°F. Spread the uncooked rice evenly at the bottom of an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  • Layering Flavors: Pour the beef broth over the rice, ensuring it’s evenly distributed. Then pour in the French onion soup.
  • Adding Richness: Slice the cold butter into pats and layer them evenly over the rice and soup mixture.
  • Baking Brilliance: Cover the dish with tin foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  • Final Touch: After 25 minutes, remove the foil and return the dish to the oven. Bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the top is golden brown.
  • Garnish and Serve: Once baked, sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Feel free to use low-sodium beef broth if you’re looking for a lighter version of this dish.
  • If you don’t have an 8×8 inch pan, a similar sized baking dish will work as long as the rice is spread evenly.
