- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional, depending on soup’s saltiness)
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions

- In a medium saucepan, cook the rice according to package instructions (typically combining rice and water, bringing it to a boil, reducing heat to low, and simmering for 15–20 minutes until water is absorbed).
- Prepare the Sauce:
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add French onion soup, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt (if needed). Stir and let simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Combine Rice and Sauce:
- Add cooked rice to the saucepan with the French onion butter sauce.
- Stir to evenly coat the rice with the sauce.
- Simmer Together:
- Let the rice and sauce simmer for another 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally to meld the flavors.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
- For added flavor, try mixing in shredded cheese or caramelized onions.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave.
