Ingredients

  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup cooking oil
  • ¾ cup chopped pitted dates
  • ½ cup chopped almonds and pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat the eggs, then add warm milk, vanilla extract, and sugar. Mix until well combined.
  4. Melt the butter and stir it into the wet mixture along with the oil.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped dates and nuts.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg into the dry ingredients.
