Description
A quick and easy beef brown gravy made from scratch using beef stock, butter, and pantry spices. Perfect for pouring over mashed potatoes, meatloaf, or roast beef for a rich, savory finish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups beef stock
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add cornstarch and sauté until it turns a light brown color, about 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder.
- Gradually whisk in the beef stock, ensuring there are no lumps.
- Continue whisking and cooking for 5 to 7 minutes until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
- Season with black pepper if needed and serve warm.
Notes
- Use low-sodium beef stock to better control the saltiness of the gravy.
- If the gravy becomes too thick, thin it out with a splash of beef stock or water.
- Add a splash of cream or a knob of butter for a richer texture.
