Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 lb ground beef
  2. 1 lb ground sausage
  3. 1012 shrimp, peeled and deveined
  4. 4 cups cooked rice
  5. 2 cups chicken broth
  6. 1 ½ cups mixed onions and bell peppers, chopped
  7. 3 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  8. 1 tsp seafood seasoning
  9. ¼ cup flour
  10. 1 tbsp oregano
  11. 3 tsp minced garlic
  12. 1 tsp thyme
  13. 1 tbsp garlic powder
  14. 1 tsp onion powder
  15. 1 tsp chili powder
  16. ½ tsp pepper, salt to taste
  17. Pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Season the Shrimp:
Season shrimp with seafood seasoning, then cook in 2 tbsp oil for 2-3 minutes per side. Set aside.
  • Brown the Meats:
In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp oil, then brown the ground beef and sausage.
  • Add Vegetables:
Add chopped onions, peppers, and garlic to the skillet.
  • Stir in Seasonings:
Stir in the oregano, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, pepper, cayenne, and salt to taste.
  • Thicken the Mixture:
Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir.
  • Simmer with Broth:
Pour in the chicken broth and let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes.

  • Add Rice and Shrimp:
Stir in the cooked rice and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
Add the cooked shrimp back into the mixture, stir well, and serve hot.

Notes

  • This dish can be made spicier by increasing the cayenne pepper or chili powder.
  • If you prefer a more “dirty” rice texture, use day-old rice for better results.

  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
