Description
These Crock Pot French Onion Meatballs are a savory, melt-in-your-mouth delight! Packed with rich onion flavor, juicy meatballs, and a delicious sauce, they’re perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.
Ingredients
Scale
- For the Meatballs:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Sauce:
- 2 cups French onion soup (canned or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape into 20-24 meatballs.
- Brown the Meatballs (Optional): For extra flavor, brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes on each side. This step is optional but adds a deeper flavor to the meatballs.
- Add to Crock Pot: Place the meatballs in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, combine French onion soup, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Pour the mixture over the meatballs in the Crock Pot.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the meatballs are cooked through and tender.
- Serve: Optionally, sprinkle shredded Swiss cheese on top of the meatballs during the last 10 minutes of cooking. Serve the meatballs with sauce over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta
Notes
- For a lighter version, you can substitute ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
- Serve with crusty bread to soak up the flavorful sauce.
