Ingredients

Scale
  1. 2 large sweet onions
  2. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  3. 1 tablespoon paprika
  4. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  5. 1 teaspoon salt
  6. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  7. 2 eggs
  8. 1/4 cup milk
  9. Cooking spray

Instructions

  • Prepare the Onions: Peel the onions and cut off the tops, leaving the root intact. Cut each onion into quarters vertically, stopping just before the root so they stay together.
  • Prepare the Coating: In a shallow bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  • Coat the Onions: Dip each onion into the flour mixture, coating it evenly. Then dip it into the egg mixture and back into the flour mixture, making sure all surfaces are well-covered.
  • Air Fry the Onions: Place the coated onions in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  • Cook: Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Serve: Remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute regular onions for sweet onions if you prefer a stronger flavor.
  • If you like spicy food, try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder to the flour mixture.
  • Dipping options like ranch dressing or spicy aioli complement these crispy mini blooming onions perfectly!
  • These onions can also be served with a side of ketchup or creamy mustard for added flavor.
