Description

Crispy, golden-fried shrimp drizzled with a sweet and spicy honey glaze, garnished with fresh parsley. A perfect combination of crunch and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, thawed, peeled, deveined, tail-on
  • 1 cup (245 g) buttermilk
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • ½ cup (170 g) hot honey
  • Parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the shrimp: Place the thawed, peeled, and deveined shrimp in a medium bowl. Pour the buttermilk over the shrimp, ensuring they are well-coated. Let the shrimp marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the flour mixture: In another large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
  3. Heat the oil: Pour vegetable oil into a large pot, filling it to about 2 inches deep. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Dredge and fry the shrimp: Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Carefully place the shrimp in the hot oil, frying them in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy. Transfer to a baking sheet lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  5. Drizzle and garnish: Once all the shrimp are fried, drizzle them with hot honey and garnish with chopped parsley for a touch of freshness and color.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil temperature stays consistent at 350°F (175°C) for the best frying results.
  • For extra heat, adjust the amount of cayenne pepper or use a spicier honey.
  • Hot honey can be adjusted to taste. Use less for a milder glaze or more for a stronger honey flavor.
  • Serve the shrimp immediately for maximum crispiness.
