Ingredients

Scale

Homemade Sauce

  • 4 Tbsp mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a healthier option)
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp diced pickles (about ½ a pickle)
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp sugar

Shrimp Patty

  • 20 medium shrimp (4150 per pound)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ egg
  • ½ Tbsp dried parsley flakes
  • ¼ onion, diced
  • 1 Tbsp potato starch (or cornstarch)
  • ¼ cup + 2 Tbsp Korean-style breadcrumbs (or Japanese panko)
  • ½ cup Korean-style breadcrumbs (for coating)

Burger Toppings

  • 2 potato buns (or your favorite burger buns)
  • Lettuce, cabbage, cheese, raw onion, tomato, peppers (best with lettuce and cheese!)

Instructions

  1. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt), lemon juice, diced pickles, Dijon mustard, and sugar. Set aside or refrigerate.
  2. Prepare the shrimp patty mixture: Roughly chop the shrimp, then combine with salt, half an egg, parsley flakes, diced onion, potato starch, and ¼ cup + 2 Tbsp breadcrumbs. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form and coat the patties: Shape the shrimp mixture into two burger-sized patties. Coat each patty in the additional ½ cup breadcrumbs.
  4. Fry the patties: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the shrimp patties until golden brown and cooked through, about 3–4 minutes per side.
  5. Assemble the burger: Toast the buns if desired. Spread the homemade sauce on each bun, then layer with lettuce, cheese, and your crispy shrimp patty. Add any other toppings you love.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use fresh shrimp for best texture, but thawed frozen shrimp works too.
  • Adjust sauce ingredients to your taste—add more pickles for tang, or extra mustard for zing.
  • For a spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne powder to the shrimp mix.
