Description

These crispy air fryer apple fries are the perfect combination of sweet and crunchy! With a light cinnamon-sugar coating and a choice of caramel or vanilla yogurt dip, these apple fries make for a delicious treat. A fun and healthier alternative to regular fries

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) – Peeled, cored, and sliced into thin wedges
  2. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour – For dredging
  3. 2 large eggs, beaten – To coat the apple slices
  4. 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs – For crunchiness
  5. 1/2 cup granulated sugar – Sweetener for the breading
  6. 1 tsp cinnamon – Adds flavor to the breading
  7. 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional) – Adds warmth to the breading
  8. For Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar – Sweetens the apple fries after cooking
    • 1 tsp cinnamon – Adds extra flavor to the fries
  9. For Optional Dip:
    • 1/2 cup caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt – For dipping

Instructions

  • Prep the Apples:
Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin wedges.
  • Set Up Breading Stations:
In one bowl, place the flour.
In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
In a third bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Bread the Apple Slices:
Dredge each apple slice in flour, dip into the beaten eggs, then coat in the panko mixture.
  • Air Fry:
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the breaded apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Cook for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  • Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
While still warm, toss the apple fries in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Serve:
Enjoy with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use any apple variety you prefer, but Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples work especially well for their tartness and firmness.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake these in the oven at 375°F for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Customize the dip to your liking—caramel sauce adds a rich sweetness, while vanilla yogurt gives a tangy contrast.
