Description

This Crockpot Pierogi Casserole with Sausage is a creamy, cheesy comfort food classic that practically cooks itself! Packed with hearty pierogies, smoked sausage, and a rich mushroom-sour cream sauce, it’s the perfect easy weeknight meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz) package frozen pierogies (potato and cheese)
  • 14 oz smoked sausage, sliced into ¼-inch pieces
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until soft.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the frozen pierogies, smoked sausage slices, sautéed onions, and half the cheddar cheese to the mixture. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Transfer everything to a crockpot. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top.
  5. Cook on low for 3–4 hours or until the pierogies are tender and casserole is heated through.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • You can use kielbasa or any other smoked sausage as a substitute.
  • For added flavor, stir in a splash of hot sauce or mustard.
  • To make it spicier, add diced jalapeños or chili flakes.
  • This dish also works well with frozen mini pierogies for bite-sized portions.
