Description

Mini Milk Tart Tarts are a delightful twist on the classic South African dessert, featuring creamy, lightly sweetened custard in crisp tart shells, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon.


Ingredients

  • 1 pack pre-made mini tart shells
  • 1 can (400g) condensed milk
  • 1 cup full-cream milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 2 large eggs
  • Ground cinnamon for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Place mini tart shells in a muffin tin to keep them stable.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together condensed milk, full-cream milk, and eggs until well combined.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cornflour with a tablespoon of the milk mixture to form a slurry.
  4. Add the cornflour slurry to the main milk mixture and whisk until combined. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the custard mixture into tart shells, filling them about ¾ full.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until custard is set and lightly golden. Centers should be slightly jiggly.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool completely in the muffin tin.
  8. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon before serving.

Notes

  • Use a jug or spouted bowl to easily pour the custard into the shells.
  • Tarts can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon topping.
