Ingredients
Scale
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch salt
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup milk
2 quarts chicken broth
3 cups cooked chicken
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cut the butter into the dry ingredients with a fork or pastry blender.
Stir in the milk, mixing with a fork until the dough forms a ball.
Heavily flour a work surface. Roll the dough out thin with a heavily floured rolling pin.
Cut the dumplings into squares about 2×2-inches with a pizza cutter or your preferred cutter.
Use a floured spatula to transfer them onto a heavily floured plate, layering them with flour between each layer.
Bring the chicken broth to a boil and drop the dumplings in one at a time, stirring as you add them. The extra flour will help thicken the broth.
Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the dumplings are fully cooked and no longer doughy.
Add the cooked chicken to the pot, stir, and serve.
Notes
Make sure to flour your work surface and spatula generously to avoid the dumplings sticking.
For extra flavor, you can add herbs such as thyme or parsley to the chicken broth.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
