Description

his Cracked Crab Cheese Bread is the perfect savory appetizer or party dish, packed with creamy cheese, crab, and a savory blend of flavors baked into a warm, crispy bread loaf

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 round loaf of sourdough or French bread (about 810 inches in diameter)

  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheese blend)

  • 1 cup lump crab meat (cooked and drained)

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup green onions (chopped)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Paprika (for garnish)

  • Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Prepare the bread: Cut the top off the round loaf of bread and carefully hollow out the inside, leaving about 1 inch of bread on the sides and bottom. Set the hollowed-out bread aside. You can tear the removed bread into pieces for serving or use it in another dish.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, lump crab meat, mayonnaise, chopped green onions, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

  • Stuff the mixture into the hollowed-out bread, pressing down gently to pack it in.

  • Place the stuffed bread on a baking sheet and cover the top with aluminum foil.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is hot and bubbly.

  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden and slightly crispy.

  • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle paprika and fresh parsley on top for garnish.

  • Serve warm, with the reserved bread pieces or crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure to drain the crab meat well to avoid excess moisture in the filling.

  • If you prefer a spicier kick, you can add a dash of hot sauce to the filling.

  • You can also use a cheese blend of your choice to vary the flavor.
