Ingredients
- 2 cups of cottage cheese
- 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup of heavy cream or milk
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1/2 cup of fresh chopped basil (optional)
- 1 pound of pasta (spaghetti, penne, or your choice)
Instructions
-
Cook the Pasta:
Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside, reserving a little pasta water for later. -
Prepare the Sauce:
In a blender or food processor, combine the cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, heavy cream (or milk), garlic powder, onion powder, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy. -
Heat the Sauce:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the blended cottage cheese sauce to the pan and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency. -
Combine with Pasta:
Toss the cooked pasta in the skillet with the sauce, ensuring all the pasta is well coated. -
Serve and Garnish:
Serve the pasta topped with fresh chopped basil, if desired.
Notes
- You can add extra herbs, such as fresh thyme or parsley, for additional flavor.
- This sauce works great with any pasta type, from spaghetti to penne or fettuccine.
- For a lighter version, substitute the heavy cream with milk or even Greek yogurt.
