    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar

    For the Boiling Water:

    • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.

2. Prepare the Batter:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and cocoa powder.
  • Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, and stir until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the greased dish, spreading it evenly.

3. Add the Topping:

  • Mix the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a separate bowl.
  • Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.

4. Pour the Hot Water:

  • Carefully pour the hot water over the top of the dish without stirring.

5. Bake:

  • Place the dish in the oven and bake for 40–45 minutes. The top will be set, and the bottom will remain gooey.

6. Serve and Enjoy:
