Description

Philly Steak Cheese Fries combine crispy waffle fries, seasoned steak, sautéed bell peppers and onions, all topped with melty white American cheese, making for a delicious and hearty meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 810 White American cheese slices
  • 20 oz bag McCain Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil. Add steak, season with garlic salt and black pepper, and cook until browned. Remove steak and set aside.
  3. Reserve 1 tbsp of drippings in the skillet. Add bell pepper and onion, and cook until tender but still crisp. Remove and set aside.
  4. Layer waffle fries in the skillet, then top with 4 slices of cheese. Add steak and vegetables.
  5. Repeat layers and top with remaining cheese.
  6. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly, then serve hot.

Notes

  • Ribeye or sirloin steak work best for this recipe, but any tender cut of steak can be used.
  • Feel free to substitute waffle fries with crinkle-cut fries or regular fries based on preference.
  • For extra flavor, you can add some hot sauce or mustard on top of the cheese before baking.
  • If you don’t have White American cheese, any mild cheese that melts well can be used, such as mozzarella or provolone.
