Description
Philly Steak Cheese Fries combine crispy waffle fries, seasoned steak, sautéed bell peppers and onions, all topped with melty white American cheese, making for a delicious and hearty meal or appetizer.

- 1 lb steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 8–10 White American cheese slices
- 20 oz bag McCain Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil. Add steak, season with garlic salt and black pepper, and cook until browned. Remove steak and set aside.
- Reserve 1 tbsp of drippings in the skillet. Add bell pepper and onion, and cook until tender but still crisp. Remove and set aside.
- Layer waffle fries in the skillet, then top with 4 slices of cheese. Add steak and vegetables.
- Repeat layers and top with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly, then serve hot.
Notes
- Ribeye or sirloin steak work best for this recipe, but any tender cut of steak can be used.
- Feel free to substitute waffle fries with crinkle-cut fries or regular fries based on preference.
- For extra flavor, you can add some hot sauce or mustard on top of the cheese before baking.
- If you don’t have White American cheese, any mild cheese that melts well can be used, such as mozzarella or provolone.
