Description

This Chicken Parmesan Stuffed with Cream Cheese is a delicious twist on the classic. Tender chicken breasts are filled with a creamy, cheesy filling and topped with marinara sauce, making it a family favorite. It’s the perfect comfort food for any night of the week.

  1. 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  2. 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  3. 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  4. 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  5. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  6. 1 teaspoon onion powder
  7. 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped (optional)
  8. 1 cup marinara sauce
  9. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  10. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  11. 1 egg, beaten
  12. Salt and pepper, to taste
  13. Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with a little olive oil and set aside.
  • In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh basil (if using). Mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Carefully slice a pocket into each chicken breast, making sure not to cut all the way through. Stuff each chicken breast with the cream cheese mixture, securing the opening with toothpicks if necessary.
  • Dip each stuffed chicken breast into the beaten egg, then coat it with breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear each chicken breast for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  • Once seared, place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Top each chicken breast with a spoonful of marinara sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  • Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley (if desired), and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute the mozzarella cheese with provolone or another cheese of your choice.
  • Add a little extra marinara sauce on top before baking for a saucier dish.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle some Italian seasoning on the breadcrumbs before coating the chicken.
