- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped (optional)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with a little olive oil and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh basil (if using). Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Carefully slice a pocket into each chicken breast, making sure not to cut all the way through. Stuff each chicken breast with the cream cheese mixture, securing the opening with toothpicks if necessary.
- Dip each stuffed chicken breast into the beaten egg, then coat it with breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear each chicken breast for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Once seared, place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Top each chicken breast with a spoonful of marinara sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley (if desired), and serve hot.
Notes
- You can substitute the mozzarella cheese with provolone or another cheese of your choice.
- Add a little extra marinara sauce on top before baking for a saucier dish.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle some Italian seasoning on the breadcrumbs before coating the chicken.
