These crispy baked Chicken Goujons are packed with flavor and have a golden, crunchy coating with tender, juicy chicken inside. Made with simple ingredients, they’re a healthier alternative to deep-fried nuggets and perfect for dinner, snacks, or meal prep. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces for a delicious meal the whole family will love!

  1. 600 g chicken breast, skinless and boneless (or 4 chicken breasts)

  2. 50 g plain flour

  3. 1 tsp paprika

  4. 2 medium free-range eggs, beaten

  5. 100 g breadcrumbs (see notes)

  6. Oil for greasing

  7. Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
    Set your oven to 200°C fan (220°C / Gas Mark 7). Lightly grease a baking sheet with oil.

  • Prepare the Chicken:
    Slice the chicken breasts into finger-shaped strips about 2–3 cm wide.

  • Coat the Chicken:
    In a small bowl, mix the flour, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    Dip each chicken strip into the flour mixture, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the breadcrumbs, ensuring an even coating.

  • Bake the Goujons:
    Place the coated chicken strips on the greased baking sheet.
    Bake for 20–23 minutes, or until the chicken is golden and fully cooked.
    If your chicken pieces are small, check for doneness at 15 minutes.

 

  • Serve & Enjoy:
    Serve hot and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, you can use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs.

 

  • Feel free to add more spices to the flour mixture, like garlic powder or cayenne pepper, for a personalized flavor.
