Description

A hearty and cheesy tortellini bake with ground beef, a flavorful tomato sauce, and a cheesy topping that makes for the perfect comfort meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 34 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 24 oz pasta sauce
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 22 oz refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Heat olive oil in a 12-14 inch oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add ground beef and brown until no pink remains, breaking the meat up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
  4. Add garlic and cook for a minute or two.
  5. Stir in pasta sauce, water, and all herbs. Bring to a simmer, then stir in tortellini and mix until everything is well combined.
  6. Top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for about 20 minutes, or until tortellini is cooked.
  8. If desired, remove foil at the end and broil a few minutes to brown the cheese.

Notes

  • If you want the cheese to brown more, broil for a few minutes after removing the foil.
  • Feel free to add more herbs or spices for extra flavor.
  • This dish can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to two days before baking.
  • For a lighter version, you can substitute ground turkey for the beef.
