-
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-
1 cup seafood stock or chicken broth
-
1 cup heavy cream
-
1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
-
1 cup cooked shrimp, peeled and chopped
-
1 cup lump crab meat or imitation crab
-
1 cup frozen peas and carrots
-
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
-
-
For the biscuit topping:
-
1 package Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix (such as Red Lobster brand)
-
Cold water and shredded cheese (as directed on the box)
-
2 tablespoons melted butter + 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (for brushing)
-
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish or deep baking dish.
-
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add diced onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until soft.
-
Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 additional minute.
-
Sprinkle flour over the onion mixture, stirring constantly to create a roux. Cook for 1 minute.
-
Slowly whisk in seafood stock and heavy cream. Add Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
-
Add cooked shrimp, crab meat, peas and carrots, and parsley. Stir gently to combine, then remove from heat.
-
Pour the seafood mixture into the prepared baking dish.
-
Prepare biscuit mix according to package instructions and drop spoonfuls of dough over the top of the filling.
-
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and fully baked.
-
In a small bowl, mix melted butter and garlic powder. Brush over the hot biscuits right before serving.
Notes
-
You can substitute the shrimp and crab with other seafood options like scallops or lobster for a different variation.
-
For an extra cheesy topping, sprinkle shredded cheese over the biscuits before baking.
-
Make sure to not overmix the biscuit dough to keep it light and fluffy.
