Description

Charred Scallion and Chili Crisp Dip is a bold, smoky, and spicy dip that combines caramelized grilled scallions with fiery chili crisp oil for a flavorful and textured appetizer. It is quick to prepare, versatile, and perfect for snacking, party platters, or as a condiment for grilled meats and vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 68 fresh scallions, washed and trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons chili crisp oil (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for charring scallions)

Instructions

  1. Prepare and Char the Scallions: Wash and trim the scallions. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Place the scallions directly on the pan surface, turning occasionally until blackened and softened in spots, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Chop and Mix: Finely chop the charred scallions. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped scallions with minced garlic, Greek yogurt or sour cream, fresh lime juice, and chili crisp oil. Stir well until fully incorporated.
  3. Season and Adjust: Add salt and pepper to taste, balancing the heat and acidity. Stir again to evenly distribute flavors.
  4. Chill and Serve: Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh scallions for the best flavor and texture; avoid limp or wilted ones.
  • Don’t rush the charring process; smoky spots enhance the flavor.
  • Adjust chili crisp oil gradually to control the heat intensity.
  • Choose high-quality chili crisp for a richer and crunchier dip.
  • Allow the dip to rest chilled for more cohesive flavor.
