Description

These classic butter cookies are soft, buttery, and delicately sweet with a melt-in-your-mouth texture—perfect for holidays, gifting, or a comforting treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose/plain flour
  • 185g butter, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour and salt. Mix and set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and icing sugar until pale and creamy.
  3. Add the egg and beat for about 3 minutes.
  4. Add the milk and vanilla extract, then mix to combine.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix properly to form the cookie dough.
  6. Transfer the dough into piping bags fitted with different nozzles.
  7. Pipe the dough onto a greased and lined baking tray into desired shapes.
  8. Place the tray in the fridge and chill for 30 minutes to help the cookies retain their shape during baking.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) until the cookies are golden brown.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough ensures the cookies maintain their shape during baking.
  • You can decorate with sprinkles or dip half in melted chocolate for variation.
  • Use unsalted butter for better flavor control.
