Description

A sweet and crunchy treat made with maple syrup, sugar, corn syrup, butter, and roasted nuts—perfect for a homemade candy experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups roasted peanuts (or pecans/almonds)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine maple syrup, sugar, and corn syrup. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  2. Boil without stirring until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  3. Remove from heat and quickly stir in butter, baking soda, and vanilla. The mixture will bubble.
  4. Add nuts and stir to coat.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased or parchment-lined dish.
  6. Cool for 1 hour at room temperature. Cut and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure that the syrup mixture reaches the correct temperature (300°F) for the hard crack stage, as this will determine the texture of the candy.
  • You can use any roasted nuts you prefer, such as pecans or almonds, for different flavor profiles.
  • Be cautious when stirring in the baking soda and vanilla, as the mixture will bubble up significantly.
  • For best results, allow the candy to cool completely before cutting it into pieces.
