Description
A sweet and crunchy treat made with maple syrup, sugar, corn syrup, butter, and roasted nuts—perfect for a homemade candy experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups roasted peanuts (or pecans/almonds)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine maple syrup, sugar, and corn syrup. Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Boil without stirring until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in butter, baking soda, and vanilla. The mixture will bubble.
- Add nuts and stir to coat.
- Pour the mixture into a greased or parchment-lined dish.
- Cool for 1 hour at room temperature. Cut and enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure that the syrup mixture reaches the correct temperature (300°F) for the hard crack stage, as this will determine the texture of the candy.
- You can use any roasted nuts you prefer, such as pecans or almonds, for different flavor profiles.
- Be cautious when stirring in the baking soda and vanilla, as the mixture will bubble up significantly.
- For best results, allow the candy to cool completely before cutting it into pieces.
