Ingredients

Scale
  1. For the Blackberry Filling:
    • 24 ounces fresh or frozen blackberries
    • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon flour
    • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 dash salt
    • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

    For the Crumble Topping:

    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 3 dashes salt
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 3-quart baking dish with nonstick spray.
  • Prepare the blackberry filling: In a medium-sized bowl, toss the blackberries with sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice until evenly coated. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • Make the crumble topping: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the softened butter and cut it into the mixture using a pastry cutter or fork until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Assemble and bake: Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the blackberry mixture. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the blackberry filling is bubbling.
  • Cool and serve: Let the crumble cool for 5-10 minutes to allow the filling to thicken slightly. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or crème anglaise, if desired.

Notes

  • Fresh or frozen blackberries work well for this recipe. If using frozen berries, no need to thaw them before baking.
  • Customize the crumble topping by adding a handful of oats or chopped nuts for extra texture.
