Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 pound prepared fresh pizza dough
  2. 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided (1 tablespoon for the dough, 1 tablespoon for cooking beef)
  3. 1 pound lean ground beef
  4. 1 cup small diced yellow onion, divided (¾ cup for the beef mixture, ¼ cup for topping)
  5. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  6. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  7. ½ teaspoon salt
  8. ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  9. 2½ cups shredded yellow American cheese (from an 8-ounce piece sliced at the deli counter)
  10. 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  11. ⅓ cup hamburger sliced dill pickles, patted dry
  12. ⅓ cup bottled Thousand Island dressing
  13. 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly spray a large 15 to 16-inch round pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  • Prepare pizza dough: Roll or stretch the pizza dough to 14 inches, then place it onto the prepared pizza pan. Poke holes all over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border.
  • Par-bake dough: Brush the pizza dough with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and bake for 15 minutes, then remove and cool.
  • Make ground beef topping: In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, ¾ cup diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-6 minutes until the beef is browned. Drain excess grease.
  • Assemble pizza: Spread the drained ground beef evenly over the par-baked pizza crust, leaving a 1-inch border. Top with shredded American cheese.
  • Bake pizza: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for 7-11 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is melted.
  • Finish topping: Remove the pizza from the oven and top with shredded lettuce, remaining onion, pickles, Thousand Island dressing, and sesame seeds.
  • Serve: Slice the pizza into 8 pieces and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you like your pickles extra crunchy, add them right before serving to preserve their texture.
  • You can also make this with a gluten-free pizza dough if needed.
  • Feel free to add extra toppings like tomatoes or bacon if you like!
