Description

This is the Best Homemade Salsa Ever, a flavorful blend of tomatoes, green chilies, onions, garlic, and spices, creating the perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and fresh flavors. Ideal for dipping or as a topping for your favorite dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (28 oz) whole tomatoes with juice
  • 2 cans (10 oz each) Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 whole jalapeño, quartered and sliced thin
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro (more to taste!)
  • Juice of 1/2 lime

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole tomatoes with their juice and the Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies.
  2. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and sliced jalapeño to the bowl.
  3. Sprinkle in the sugar, salt, and ground cumin. Stir everything together until well mixed.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped cilantro, adjusting the amount to your taste.
  5. Squeeze in the juice of half a lime and mix again.
  6. Taste your salsa and adjust seasoning if needed; you can add more lime juice, salt, or cilantro if you like.
  7. Let the salsa sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend beautifully.
  8. Your amazing homemade salsa is ready to enjoy! Serve it with chips or as a zesty topping for your favorite dishes!

Notes

  • Let the salsa sit for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.
  • Adjust the heat level by adding more or less jalapeño to suit your taste.
  • For an extra kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Feel free to increase the cilantro if you love its fresh flavor.
