Ingredients

Scale
  1. For the noodles:
    • 8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti)
    • 1 tbsp sesame oil (for tossing)

    For the beef & broccoli:

    • 1/2 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
    • 2 cups broccoli florets
    • 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or sesame)
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 tsp ginger, grated

    For the sauce:

    1. 1/4 cup soy sauce
    2. 1 tbsp oyster sauce
    3. 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
    4. 1 tsp brown sugar
    5. 1 tsp cornstarch
    6. 1/4 cup beef broth or water
    7. 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for spice)

Instructions

  • Cook the noodles: Boil lo mein noodles according to package directions. Drain, toss with 1 tbsp sesame oil, and set aside.
  • Steam the broccoli: Blanch the broccoli in boiling water for 1-2 minutes or steam until bright green and slightly tender. Set aside.
  • Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and beef broth until smooth.
  • Cook the beef: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Stir-fry: In the same pan, add another 1 tbsp oil, then sauté garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Combine everything: Add the noodles, broccoli, and cooked beef back into the pan. Pour the sauce over and toss everything together for 2-3 minutes until well coated and heated through.
  • Serve hot: Garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions. Enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don’t have lo mein noodles, you can substitute with spaghetti or another noodle of your choice.
  • For extra flavor, feel free to add a splash of rice vinegar or a pinch of five-spice powder to the sauce.
