Description

This creamy and sweet Banana Bread Butter is the perfect spread for toast, pancakes, or muffins. With ripe bananas, cinnamon, and brown sugar, this spread has the flavors of homemade banana bread in a convenient jar! Top with nuts for added crunch.

  1. 2 overripe bananas, mashed

  2. 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  3. 1/3 cup packed brown sugar

  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  5. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  6. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  7. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  8. 1/4 cup toasted chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)


Instructions

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

  • Add the mashed bananas and continue mixing until fully incorporated. It may look slightly curdled at first, but keep beating.

  • Mix in the brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, beating until smooth and well combined.

  • If using nuts, gently fold them in with a spatula.

  • Transfer the banana bread butter to airtight containers or mason jars.

  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to let the flavors blend and the texture set.
