Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
  2. 1 small onion, diced
  3. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 1 teaspoon salt
  5. ½ teaspoon black pepper
  6. 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  7. ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  8. ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  9. ½ head of cabbage, chopped
  10. 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  11. ½ cup tomato sauce
  12. 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  13. ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  14. 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with olive oil.

  • Cook the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease.

  • Sauté the Aromatics:
Add the onion and garlic to the beef, cooking for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Stir in salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, and red pepper flakes.

  • Add the Cabbage & Tomatoes:
Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Let simmer for 5 minutes until the cabbage softens slightly.

  • Assemble the Bake:
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with cheddar or mozzarella cheese, then Parmesan.

  • Bake:
Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Serve & Enjoy:
Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can use ground turkey instead of beef.
  • Feel free to swap the shredded cheddar for mozzarella or a cheese blend.
  • If you prefer extra heat, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
