Description
Amatriciana is a savory pasta dish featuring a rich tomato sauce made with ground beef, onions, garlic, and red pepper flakes, finished with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices ground beef, diced
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 (14.5 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes
- 1 pound linguine pasta, uncooked
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the diced ground beef over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Remove any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3–4 minutes, until the onion is softened.
- Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes and stewed tomatoes. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 10–15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- While the sauce simmers, cook the linguine pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Stir the chopped fresh basil into the tomato sauce.
- Toss the cooked linguine pasta with the Amatriciana sauce until well coated.
- Serve with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
- Feel free to use any type of pasta if you don’t have linguine.
- For a lighter version, you can substitute ground turkey for the beef.
