Description
Alabama-Style White Barbecue Sauce is a tangy, creamy, and peppery sauce made with mayonnaise and vinegar, traditionally served with grilled or smoked meats like chicken and pork.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups mayonnaise
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup prepared extra-hot horseradish
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons prepared yellow mustard
- 1 ½ teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and horseradish.
- Stir in the lemon juice, yellow mustard, black pepper, kosher salt, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.
- Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more cayenne pepper for extra heat or more vinegar for tang.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve as a dipping sauce or drizzle over grilled chicken, pork, or vegetables. Enjoy!
Notes
- This sauce gets spicier the longer it sits—taste before serving.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Great as a marinade or a salad dressing base, too.
