Description

These crispy and flavorful Air Fried Pearl Onions, also known as mini blooming onions, are a perfect bite-sized snack or side dish. With a simple and flavorful seasoning blend, they’re air fried to perfection for a crispy, golden outside and a tender inside.


Ingredients

  1. 1/2 bag frozen pearl onions

  2. 1 cup flour

  3. 2 teaspoons paprika

  4. 1 teaspoon salt

  5. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  6. 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  7. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  8. 1 egg

  9. Oil in a spray bottle


Instructions

  • Microwave the pearl onions for half the package time (about 2 minutes).

  • Beat the egg in a medium bowl.

  • In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.

  • Drain the onions and pat them dry.

  • Coat 6 onions in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg, and coat them in flour again.

  • Refrigerate the coated onions for 10 minutes.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 380°F for 3 minutes.

  • Arrange the onions in a single layer in the air fryer, spray with oil.

 

  • Air fry for 3 minutes, shake the basket, spray with oil again, and fry for an additional 3 minutes until crispy and golden.


Notes

  • If you’re cooking more than 6 onions, you may need to air fry in batches.

  • The onions should be crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. You can adjust the frying time based on the size of the onions and your air fryer.

 

  • You can use a dipping sauce of your choice, such as ranch or a spicy aioli.
