Ingredients
Scale
Cheesy Garlic Alfredo Sauce
- 2 cups 2% milk
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons minced garlic
- Pepper, to taste
Shrimp
- 1 pound peeled and deveined shrimp
Cheese Blend
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese or 3-cheese blend
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional, for extra richness)
Garnish
- Chopped parsley
Instructions
- Sauté garlic: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Make the roux: Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden and bubbling.
- Add milk and season: Gradually whisk in milk, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring, until the sauce begins to thicken.
- Melt in cream cheese: Add cream cheese and stir until fully melted and smooth.
- Cook the shrimp: Add the shrimp to the sauce and cook for 3–4 minutes, or until pink and opaque.
- Finish with cheese: Stir in mozzarella and parmesan cheese until the sauce is creamy and the cheese has fully melted.
- Serve: Spoon over pasta, rice, or sautéed veggies. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Use pre-cooked shrimp to save time—just add them in the last minute to warm through.
- Swap milk for half-and-half or heavy cream for an ultra-rich version.
- Delicious over fettuccine, linguine, or zucchini noodles.
